Update 3 — Visit of the boatyard in Turkey
Date: 21.05.2026
Finally visited the boatyard in Turkey where Estra will undergo the main stage of preparation for the solo non-stop circumnavigation.
It was great to meet the team and see the place where so much of the upcoming work will happen. After a long time of planning and preparation, standing there made the project feel very real.
There’s still a lot ahead, but Estra is getting closer to launch with each day and the next chapter is beginning soon.
Update 2 — Hull Repaired
Date: 18.05.2026
The hull repairs are nearly complete and Estra is getting closer to launch.
Several holes in the hull were repaired by fitting new wooden plugs into the openings, bonding them with epoxy, and laminating fiberglass over the repaired areas. The surface has now been faired and sealed, restoring the hull and preparing the boat for the water again.
It’s one of the first but very important steps forward in bringing Estra back to full strength before the solo non-stop circumnavigation attempt.
Update 1 — Project Launched
Date: 08.02.2026
The journey is officially underway! I’m preparing for a solo, non-stop circumnavigation of the world, sailing alone through the Southern Ocean on the boat I grew up on — a family-built Didi 34.
This page will document the preparation, milestones, and eventual journey. Stay tuned for updates as the project develops.
